Financial Aid Verification Process
Once a student submits their FAFSA, they may be selected for financial aid verification. Students may find out if they have been selected for verification via their Student Aid Report on the FAFSA or they may be contacted by their institution.
The financial aid verification process is required by the U.S. Department of Education. Institutions are required to collect and maintain specific documentation on selected FAFSA records before disbursing federal funds. Approximately 30% of students who submit a FAFSA will be selected for verification. Students who are selected must submit the requested documentation in order to receive their financial aid.
