Fulfillment Fund Students Perform Community Service at Three Square to Become Competitive College Applicants But Gain Much More.
On Saturday, December 6th, a group of Fulfillment Fund students from Chaparral and Del Sol High School spent their morning giving back to the community by volunteering at Three Square, Southern Nevada’s only food bank.
Fulfillment Fund students helped to assemble 2,880 weekend bags for the BackPack for Kids Program, packed 594 boxes of nutritious food for the Senior Share Program and sanitized enough bins to deliver 10,500 ready-to-eat meals for children throughout the Southern Nevada community.
At the end of the day, many of our students expressed gaining a sense of purpose and feeling accomplished after volunteering. Ian, a junior at Chaparral High School very much enjoyed his experience at Three Square. Here is what he had to say:
“I had a lot fun helping at Three Square Food Bank. It helped me reflect on my own life and acknowledge what I take for granted. It also made me appreciate my life and the food that that my parents are able to provide.”
When keeping our mission in mind, community service helps our students become competitive college applicants. However, performing community service helps a person in many ways, especially high school students. Like Ian has learned, community service is an eye opening experience.
